The Agri/Environmental Consulting Services division of Servi-Tech Laboratories was started in 1987 to apply technical expertise and experience, to use agronomic processes, and to lend a common-sense, practical approach to environmental monitoring, to soil and water management, and to site restoration and remediation. 

Services

Planning

  • Negotiate and coordinate with regulatory authorities
  • Prepare work plans and specifications
  • Interpret regulations and guidelines
  • Hydrologic and geologic site characterization
  • Water well and pump design
  • Enviromental property assessments (Phase 1) for real estate transfers

Monitoring

  • Implement soil and ground water monitoring networks to meet regulatory requirements and specifications
  • Develop nutrient and salinity management plans
  • Monitor soil/water/crop interactions
  • Compile and prepare monitoring reports for regulatory agencies

Restoration and remediation activities

  • Integrate site operations with restoration and remediation
  • Develop work plans and specifications
  • Coordinate site activities
  • Remove contaminated soil for agronomic land application
  • Remove contaminated ground water for beneficial use (irrigation)
  • Install and manage phytoremediation system (Tree Mediation®)

KDHE Voluntary Cooperative Program

  • Ongoing projects at 16 agricultural facilities nitrates, pesticides, carbon tetrachloride contamination of soil and ground water)

KDHE State Cooperative Program (enforcement based)

  • Ongoing projects at six agricultural facilities (nitrates and pesticides; soil and ground water contamination)

Ground water monitoring

  • Ongoing projects at:
    • 21 retail agricultural facilities
    • 10 Confined Animal Feeding Operations
  • Regional quality monitoring (Texas Cattle Feeders Assn., Southwest Kansas Ground Water Management District #3)

Land application monitoring (nutrient and salinty management)

  • Large-scale municipal wastewater irrigation (City of Dodge City)
  • CAFO facility manure and wastewater application fields
  • Industrial facilities in Kansas and Texas
  • NRCS Technical Service Provider
  • Kansas Dept. of Ag regulated swine facilities

Environmental site assessments

  • Numerous retail agricultural facilities, including
    • Grain storage and handling facilities
    • Fertilizer and agrichemical facilities
    • Refined fuel facilities
  • Site assessments for confined animal feedlots, dairies, oilfield brine spills, and ammonia pipeline release

Partnership

Servi-Tech. successfully partners with other environmental consultants to extend our scope of environmental and remedial services.  Partners include a Licensed Geologist, Licensed Water Well Contractor, Certified Soil Scientist, and Professional Engineer.  We believe partnering is an effective management approach, bringing additional skills and technology to each project.  It provides a practical, common-sense strategy that works in the client’s best interest.
